March by Kwibl March by Kwibl
A large formation of heavy siege units marches across the desert under their own escort from on-board forces. These colossal machines act as moving fortresses with their own onboard force deployment capability and carry incredibly large siege cannons to bring down powerful shields.

Assuming you had read the description but had a hard time understanding it, basically this weapon launches an unstable dying star that emits dangerous rays of radiation and its gravity is actually so strong, it can pull in even the biggest of enemies (kind of like a black hole, but not as intense)

Makes the guys with Rifles seem a bit redundant, but awesome stuff.

Command and Conquer and The Empire Strikes back taught me valuable lessons about leaving big walking mechs without any escorts :P

Great work, and a great concept too - love the back-story you've done. Any chance of seeing a process of how you made this, or similar? Would love to see your working!

I have a few WIPs up on Facebook as i slowly worked on it, starting with the initial rough sketch:

scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hp…

scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hp…

scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hp…

scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hp…

It's not a great work flow, as things like lighting and colour are introduced way too late, but that's what you get for not really planning. Also a very big dose of 3D paintovers for the Walkers and Vehicle in the background so that i could avoid creating large perspective grids.

This is really helpful, thank-you! And sure, I understand, but it's still a good insight into how you build up your scenes. Thanks a lot.

Basically i was finishing it last week (including ground texture) before i sent my application to Guerilla and then downsized it and didn't have my history going back to before i'd down res'd it, so i just didn't save the PSD with the changes, and then forgot to re-add a ground texture when i did it again this week.
